Community Update (11th March, 2024)
It's been a while since our last community update, and more information as to why can be found on our Discord - but we've added some long-awaited features that a lot of you can resonate with š
Update Highlights
š Improved: Leaderboards
In this update, we've fixed the chat messages for the new leaderboards system where you surpass another players' rank on the leaderboard. We've also made these messages only apply to the top 10 players so that you're not spammed.
We've also got a couple more things to talk about:
~ š« PvP Leaderboards
Yes, finally, We've added PvP leaderboards for kills and deaths (K/D coming soon), supporting players and groups.
One thing to note here is that the logic for deaths are different to the stats on your screen, as any death is counted towards your leaderboard count. This is because it's a common tactic to commit suicide during combat to prevent rivals from getting the kill. This bad sport behaviour shouldn't be rewarded for and will affect your K/D negatively when we implement the leaderboards for that.
~ š„ļø Hub Leaderboards
We've added the ability to view these leaderboards directly from within the server hub, providing a more user friendly way of checking your rank.
Each leaderboard displays the top 100 players, and displays your own rank and score at the very bottom if you're out of the top 100.
These leaderboards update every 30 seconds and reset every Monday as usual - we're working on improving the time it takes to load them, as well as the optimisation of the page (it's pretty slow right now, we're aware).
ā Improved: Vehicle Rewards
A common complaint (since we reworked vehicle rewards) has been that there's no way to see the list of rewardable vehicles. Good news - we've added it to the server hub finally, alongside your progress of fulfilling each and every reward.
This took a while to complete because we didn't really know how to implement this on top of what we had planned, as we wanted to expand on the rewards system to support other reward types (such as weapons), but because we sat on this idea for so long trying to figure out how to move forward, we unintentionally delayed this inevitable improvement.
We're sorry for this, but we're glad that it's finally in the server. As for supporting more reward types, that will come at a later date when we've fully figured it out. Thank you for being patient.
~ š« New Rewards
We've updated all reward vehicles with a new set of lore friendly ones. This also took a while because we wanted to wait for our content to build back up again before touching this part of the system.
What if I've already unlocked the vehicles you removed? Since we tweaked the way rewards work, so long as you've got the requirements met already, you'll automatically unlock all the new reward vehicles. No biggie, just login and check if you've got them unlocked. Most of the requirements are exactly the same as before, too :)
You can view these new reward vehicles at the Server Hub (F1).
š“ New Location: Roxwood
The Ambitioneers have released their new Roxwood update and we're happy to include it in this months update.
This new map is a work-in-progress DLC that provides you with another city to explore, and while unfinished, there's definitely a lot to see. The team has been working hard on this DLC and continue to provide frequent updates.
We've also added some meet zones for Roxwood - go check them out :)
šļø Location Upgrade: Mile High Club
This infamous city skyscraper has had a major optimisation pass, improving the FPS in the area as well as when looking at the building from far away.
The Ambitioneers have put an appreciated amount of effort into making sure that lower-end PCs can run like butter with the building in sight.
š New Content: Vehicles
We've done another balancing pass for vehicles, which includes tweaking collision, weapon and engine damage multipliers. We've improved our internal content workflows to ensure appropriate balancing for these parameters too, so nothing goes unchecked upon being added.
We've also fixed some cases of vehicle names and labels not matching up, resulting in weird text being displayed when killed by a vehicle in PvP. We're improving a lot about our new content processes.
In other news, we've added 132 new vehicles for you to discover:
